CLE presents in AmCham forum on "Rule of Law and Economic Growth"

Today, the USAID Democracy and Governance Office and the Economic Growth Office, as well as the USAID  Contract Law Enforcement (CLE) Program teamed up with the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) to conduct a forum discussion on the "Rule of Law and Economic Growth" together with alumni of the School for European Integration.

 Brian Martalus from USAID’s Economic Growth Office opened the discussion by providing an overall summary of economic growth factors in Kosovo, and USAID assistance in that area. Miranda Joliceour, Acting Director of the Democracy and Governance Office continued by describing the rule of law as a pillar economic growth and introducingUSAID’s program support in the area. The presentations concluded with Christopher Thompson, CLE Chief of Party, who presented on CLE specific efforts to improve rule of law and economic growth by enhancing access to justice, improving Kosovo’s commercial law framework, and supporting greater use of written contracts by businesses.

 The presentations generated a lively discussion among participants on reform options going forward.
