CLE presents in AmCham forum on "Rule of Law and Economic Growth"

Today, the USAID Democracy and Governance Office and the Economic Growth Office, as well as the USAID Contract Law Enforcement (CLE) Program teamed up with the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) toconducta forumdiscussionon the "Rule of Law and Economic Growth"together with alumniof the School for European Integration.

Brian Martalus fromUSAID’sEconomic Growth Office opened the discussion byprovidingan overall summary of economicgrowthfactors in Kosovo,and USAID assistance in that area. Miranda Joliceour, Acting Director of the Democracy and Governance Office continued bydescribing the rule of lawas a pillar economic growth andintroducingUSAID’s programsupport in the area.The presentations concluded with Christopher Thompson, CLE Chief of Party, whopresented on CLE specific efforts to improve rule of law and economic growth by enhancing access to justice, improving Kosovo’s commercial law framework, and supporting greater use of written contracts by businesses.

The presentations generated a lively discussion among participants on reform options going forward.
